Under stocked vs over stocked...

The varying sentiments of fish do not translate into ability to keep a fish alive.

Cooking pacus for example...People do such things are not necessary "bad" fish keepers...they just don't see eating the fish in their tanks to be any different than eating the fish from your local fish monger.

..........If you’d like to see photos of epic fishkeeping fails, see post # 97 in the following thread: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?496601-770-Gallon-Filtration/page3

I looked at the pics, then watched the video of arros fighting. then viewed pics again.
Seriously, cut through & past all the posts & arguments.
This person obviously has serious mental &/or emotion illness, that is not being addressed by any clinical means whatsoever.
You have all seen so much of the 'results', that the most obvious thing is lost!
OMG... speaking to the perpetrator as if he is rational will get NOwhere.
It's quite possible that losses of touch with Reality are in the mix.

Wouldn't that be EVERYone's very first impression of the carnage, if it were warm blooded furry animals?
This person has found a way to escape the radar, by choosing the perfect "hobby". it's way beyond hoarding- a sickness is being, not only indulged, but flaunted.
Maybe he gets off on this whole process, and on seeing PPLs' outrage.

All I can say is, SHAME on his family for not intervening. they may be afraid to.
which is exactly why they should.
I'd take that mfker down in a hot new york second. He'd never see it coming, for the sake of my own safety.

No point in being so agro, Dame Barbara....

Not worth it, in any case.

I confess that I am schocked. Never seen so many dead fish in one place.

aggressive? I am talking about having this guy hauled off to a mental facility for treatment. NO way this is the only sign in his life.
I would bet big stakes on that.

Drstrangelove I know exactly what ur saying. When my last shipment of piranha came in it was so beat up n died within 2 hrs of getting it I felt do bad for the fish. I'm just trying to look at it both ways as people see it lol.

I went away for work for 2 months before and my 450g didn't lose one fish but I wasn't super overstocked like the tank RD is referring to but my tank was mildly overstocked (25+ fish sizes ranging from 3"-22". Mostly smaller schools of fish). Also while I was away my dad fed the tank twice a week with a friend that helped me did 1 water change. Some of my small severums even grew from 3" to 5+" since I left. Yes it's somewhat irresponsible to leave your tank for that long but that's life. As long as u have responsible care takers that know what they're doing helping you then all will be ok, but I guess that's not the case with that heavily overstocked tank....

Miguel, those maimed & dead fish did not all occur in one week. it's a pattern of life.

If you want to be really truthful, if people sees fish the same as dogs/cats etc as they claim; all of them would be out of the hobby when the first improper cycle took the lives of the fish we are keeping.

I feel bad when my fish die and will correct whatever mistake I made(if there is a clear case); however, life goes on and I will replace my dead fish with another one.

If you're referring to the mass tormenter, That's comparing baskets of apples & oranges. with one great big rotten stinking tomato parading around in HD.

With this i absolutely relate. It is very very seldomm, however, that fish die on me. Those who die are allways new arrivals. :(
