underfloor heating question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would run the water lines or electrical lines(like heat tracing but designed for flooring) on the floor them cement around them. The water lines would then form a loop with a pump and a boiler, an aquastat in the pond would call for heat turning on the pump and them turning on the boiler. The lines are plastic and the pond liner would sit over them.

The electrical lines would be operated from a set of contacts from a relay and the relay operated from an aquastat in the pond.

i would still feel more comfortable in also heating the pond water directly as well

The lines are a plastic and rated to be encased in cement and for higher temps. Most new houses around here use this for heating basements and use the electrical floor heating for spot heating(eg bathroom floor).

The earth maintains the water temp for most part so wouldn't this be more lifelike? I was also thinking more even heat distribution in the pond.

Now, what is more economical a boiler with the embedded lines or regular heaters in sump?

natural gas here is cheaper than electricity and I could also use a wood boiler for heat. Wood is free and easy to come by but messier. So i would probably stick to gas or electricity.

I will definitely plan for this since I haven't heard from any one that does this yet.
