I agree with that one as well and only if they are properly housed.
 
For me it's convicts there so uninteresting to me and I breed a lot of cichlids but not the convicts not my cup of tea.
 
for underrated fish... i'd have to go with regular gouramis. I first started keeping tropical fish last july and the first fish i got was an opaline gourami. He lived through an uncycled tank that was running for 24 hours with no conditioner before hand. a water change without conditioner, and the first month my tank was set up without a water change. He's a trooper and has lots of personality, a bit stunted albeit but it's cool how when i do WC's every week he comes up with his feelers and runs them all around my arm. awesome fish that are often overlooked IMO
 
Cons are definitely awesome, especially the ones that show orange(females) and lots of metallic blue...maybe they're HRPxCon hybrids but still awesome nonetheless.

Don't forget the dozens of small schooling dither fish either :) Unless they turn into snacks...then you just waste your money :(

This.. I love my goldfish, they're very active and will eat most anything I give them, plus I just think they're cute lol, most people just see them as feeders, but when I see a tiny goldfish, I see potential :)
