Just think about what is around you now (that will save on gas/time). Work as much as you can, spend as little as you can. You have down time? Want to play a video game? Apply to a better job, then play. Do that every night...
No job is below you...I work at Petco. I graduate from a top-ranked university in May, and I am applying for almost all of the companies I listed above. Any job that pays more then what you are making now is a good job. Obviously, later down the road when you are in a well-paying job, you can relax a bit, and start looking for a job that you want, but for now you do not have that luxury.

If you like video games a lot you should apply at a gamestop or gamecrazy. not sure what the pay is like but it seems like the people who work there aren't very busy and are always kicking back and hanging out. Either that, or a skate shop, surf shop, guitar center, any music store. Definitely better than flipping burgers. There are lots of rad places to work that don't require job experience or a degree. You just gotta look around and you gotta get those applications.

the problem is where he's located, it doesnt seem like there's too much, and im trying to find stuff in his town or the ones right next to it due to transportation issues. no busses or subways in the area.

Btw, I am currently applying for UPS. Any job is a job. Funny, before the current economic state, people were *****in about the job they have. Now, people love the fact that they actually have a job to ***** about.
