Lake Wilson is in Wahiawa on Oahu. Requires a permit.

I think Gulf Killifish may be found in brackish water or in Pearl Harbour.

You catch any snakeheads yet? They are on Oahu. There's some Hawaiian red shrimp too and some unique freshwater snails.

They call them pongee here, and I have heard small ones still exist in lake wilson, but chemicals or something killed there numbers off a few years ago. I plan on going for one, and will update you guys on my catches. I have caught some cool saltwater fish. Goatfish, sergents, jacks, and bonefish :)

I only saw snakeheads once in Lake Wilson. There used to be a large arrowana in the quarry pond. Does the Japanese garden still have tons of huge green terrors?

From what I found in the website, it sounds like pongee populations has been declining in recent years...don't know why.

They still raise them for food in ponds on the north shore, you can purchase them in Honolulu's China town. They're still live but they won't sell them to you until they kill them.

Not sure if Dr. Cray has seen this forum yet but it has a lot of good info on Lake Wilson - http://www.hawaiibassfishing.com/

EDIT: Nevermind, I see he's posted in the forum over there.

Yeah man just joined the other day. I only saw a few green terrors in the pond, but they were small. There are a lot of red devils and five stars, and very few jags. The jags are nice looking though.

Can you fish for pongee on the North Shore?

I get my car this week. Be prepared for tucanre pics.

I'm talking about the Japanese Gardens up behind the theater. When I was there there were tons of huge green terrors in there, along with koi, black pacu, bala sharks, convicts, and some African cichlids. I also spotted some in Manoa creek.

All I ever caught in the quarry pond were red devils, convicts, jags, and 5 star generals. Oh yeah, and some huge freshwater prawns.

The snakehead ponds are private as far as I know.
