Unknown Fish

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this might be?

I've lost the website where it was posted, but I remember that The pic was from a postcard printed around 1910-20. The guys look like servicemen and the trees look like palms. The fish does not have any fins but perhaps It was already dead and decaying when they found it...

At first glance I thought it was a finned tiger shark. The more I look at it the more I don't know what it is.

the angle and shadows on the photo make it look like a weird fish, but I am sure that isn't the mouth at all. Weird. Where did you find it.
