sorry about the tank. it was one of the better planted discus tanks i've seen. now, being the natural look guy that I am, this tank rocks. you probably know this, but there are no plants in discus waters. I would'nt remove any wood. if anything remove some rock and add more wood. it's so cool watching my discus swim thru the branches. if you need some color, add some floating plants. your fish will love you for it. as beautiful as your tank was I much prefer this one. of course this is just my opinion.

But I think the iwagami style setup w/ the carpet grass would look the best.
As superleggra stated...its a sign. The cichla are calling you back. Ive never seen you have as much passion for these other setups or fish as you did CICHLA.

have you thought of replacing the substrate? it looks good, but with the dark background you may get some peppering on the pb fish.
I did think about it, but it would be a lot of work I don't want to do lol. And if I decide to go plants again, I'll already have the right substrate. And yeah, my two checkerboards get some peppering already. Considering getting rid of these two since the colors wont go well with the wilds I want to get.3dees;4762079;4762079 said:

There is a huge boulder in the back left corner that I could remove and add more wood. I'd maybe leave a few rocks though. What kind of wood is that in your tank, is it local? And thanks for the kind words folks, makes it easier to cope with the loss
thanks Jose. all my wood is manzanita. I ordered it from manzanita.com. you can order any size branches and they have pics of thier stumps for sale. they are in California and thier shipping is very reasonable. my floating plants (brazialian pennyworth) takes care of the nitrates. would not do duckweed. I had it and it's a pain. put yor arm in the tank and it's covered with the stuff. I have had planted tanks in the past but they are too much work. my tank is so easy to maintain. you wont be sorry with wilds. once acclimated to your tank I think they are much more hardy than domestics. seven months and I have not had one problem with them.
