I hear you can grow it like HC, but it takes off pretty quick after it gets settled in.
Yeah I think I've seen folks growing this emersed. I wonder how strong the roots are though. I hated how delicated HC was, it would uproot on me all the time

I've been a fan of these tanks now that I see what's possible from ADG and the like. It's a matter of time before I set up a little discus tank of my own.

Ps would love to see some smaller sp of Anubias worked into the wood. Would look real good imo

Dude, from plants to wood...both look great...You have a good eye man.

Just noticed this thread... it really sucks that it had to happen like this, but Joey's right. You naturally have a great eye for this stuff, so if you're forced to change it up, there's no harm in going for a hardscape phase for a while. You can always go back to plants later when you start getting the itch. Which you know you will.

Every once in a while I see threads on SD about Discus jumping out... that would make me nervous in that rimless tank. Not sure why I never thought of that til now.

But you should definitely place your order with John, leave the plants out for a while, and see how you like it.

(Though on the topic of floating plants, depending on how your overflow and return are set up, you can hang them through the slats in the overflow and let the return current push them out into the tank, which keeps them from clogging things up. That's how I've got mine set up. Looks nice, good coverage, etc. They're fake, but real wouldn't be any different.)

First off, I am very sorry to hear, Jose. That really sucks. The perfect storm hit your tank :(

But: I agree with most others here, the new landscape looks awesome, man! Maybe add a few worry-free low-tech plants ;)?

So I added some Bifuran which treats internal parasites just in case. Well, this stuff as it turns out, is like Roundup for a planted tank. It pretty much finished the job that the power outage had started. I wished the bottle would have said something about this :irked:

That's a bummer. I trust this was the last time you relied on bottle info :swear: . Having said that, Bifuran is a 80/20 mix of nitrofurazone/furazolidone. Both compounds are chemically very similar and share a hydrazine moiety. Hydrazines are 5 orders or magnitude (100,000 x) !!! more toxic to aquatic plants than fish or inverts. ... You just found that out the hard way ...

Keep rockin' - the new looks are awesome. Where in the world did you get those bolders???
