I know what book your talking about. I have it. It has some cool ideas, but some of them are definately not practical. I like some of the ideas like using the rodent tubes as "tunnels" for the fish to swim through and I like the zen garden.
lol just use clear pvc pipes I did that and made a thing of pipes for my fish to go through they loved it, it was pretty cool!

Howdy,

Theoretically, it could work - with the limitations others have already pointed out. Esthetically, it might be pleasing to the eye. But IMO, that's what shelves and cupboards are for ... I am a nature guy when it comes to decorating my tank...

I'd be interesting to see pics, though!

These pics are from the book Aquarium Style by Matthew Christian. A lot of good ideas, including unusual ones like these. If you want to see more let me know. Sorry about the delay.

These are creative , but I keep thinking that clean-up will be a pain. Marbles can be hard to clean in between, I find that I like a more natural decor, I wonder how it affects the fish ? Really cool to see though.

Yeah, they don't look like the easiest tanks to maintain, but if you are going to put the effort in anyway, why not?

OOOOOHHHH Zen Garden------keeeuuuuwwweeeeelll!!! (Pan: malawis meditating in their garden) Thanks for all the pix!

As for the marbles: I'm using the flat melted large marbles in my 10g for now, and using a gravel vac does great, just kind of push them around. Levels stay pretty steady, just don't overfeed, and catch any plant matter if it's there!!

CONCERN: any kind of (new) plastics "outgass"--could this possibly create a harmful chemical release into the water which isn't picked up by the test kits? Jes' wundrin', cuz they look fun for the fish.
