1st. svang your bass loook amazing!! +rep
2nd. the issue comes to my attention that it has to be related to attraction to the location of the bubbles maybe the place your bubbles are located in a matter that provokes your orinio into gaurding the bubbles more then it would have before.

OR

maybe thats his territory and he always gaurded it but then then you moved the bubbles in his terriory making it seem he is gaurding the bubbles.

i hope this helps.

I'm with the guys on this being a territory thing, one of my ocells does this from time to time around my driftwood..

Great pic by the way, nice collection!

guys, the orino is still doing it and still not eating. during feeding, everyone used to come and fight for food but this guy stopped. The others stuffed themselves with shrimp and this guy just stays with it's bubbles.

I did see one of the bass spit out a piece and the orino guarding the bubbles ate it but then spit it out after a few seconds of chewing it.

Is this fish ready to lay eggs but just doesn't have anyone to court with??? Remember, this happened out of the blue,........ it never protected a certain spot before. It's gotten into fights and chased the others around in the past but then it'll settle down with everyone. now it just stays by the bubbles and chases anyone away who comes close

How often do you feed them? And how much? Also does she appear (if this is a female Orino) to be holding eggs?

i feed once every 2-3 days. there is 5 of them so i use like 8-10 shrimp. each shrimp is cut into 3 pieces.

i can't tell if it's male of female but I can tell that the others' stomaches will be flatter when i havent' fed them in a couple of days but since it's been protecting the bubbles and not eating, it's stomache has not flattened. And it's colors are ALWAYS vibrant. before, the 2 orinos will be stable on and off, but this one has been SUPER stable since protecting it's bubbles.

I was feeding on the same schedule as you and I do believe this Lady Orino of your's is holding. What the significance of the bubbles hold is still a mystery to me. She must not have a sutiable sutor in the tank. I think she will be fine she may sulk for a while but if she doesn't looked starved i wouldn't worry about it.

thanks, i'm not familiar with the terms you used but I'm thinking "holding" means she's got eggs? and you think that there's no one to pair with in the tank right?

and what's "sulking"? And what happens to a fish that has eggs but doesn't pair up with a male? will she lay and the eggs will just sit unfertalized until some one eats them? or if they don't lay, what happens to the eggs inside them?

Yes Holding means Eggs. Yes I think she does not have a mate that will help induce her to spawn.

Sulking = depressed because she doesn't have a Mate to lay the eggs with. I believe she will ethier absorb the egg's or lay unfertilized. But I do believe because she has no mate she will absorb them because she has no one in the tank to to do the cha cha with. But ither way she will be fine.
