go test your neighborhood pond/lake/river/etc....

tell me if there is even one ppm of anything you would test for in an aquarium. im pretty sure just because the water may not look clean it is.

There may not be, but (even if I did like to eat fish) I would NEVER eat a fish out of our city park's pond and it's full of bluegill. That water looks bad because it IS even if there might not be ammonia. There are very few places with "pristine" water anymore. Of course ammonia isn't good for any fish

BTW, would you happen to know where your friend got a shirt that looks like your avatar? I want one

I think the tank will cycle quickly with the bluegill because he is one pooping machine. I've had him less than 24 hours and I think he's pooped twice his body weight already.

i have no clue where he got it. i want one too! i almost made it on a website, but backed out.
