Hmmm, I would guess then, like V_F, that he must come out when your not around, also for his size (and water temp) he may not have to stay up there for long, so it might not be bad that you haven't seen him out.

Great looking turtle nice set up. if you put floating cork,etc will he/she climb out and bask.

I never had turtles but thought they had to bask or shell got weak. Ofcourse snappers,some musks different.
