I just killed a few million braincells reading through those comments....

OMFG!!!...there are people out there that defies the word "stupid" !

I hope that Rockey will make it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up..

Did anyone notice that the article made mention to the fact that Maryland has amended the law to only restrict the 2 species that can live in cold water.....argus and micropeltes......hmmmm.......good news for those pleuro, bleheri, gachua, etc... lovers......:) What I wonder is....is this like the marijuana thing in Cali, the state doesn't enforce the federal law?

Is it possible for micros to live in cold season? I heard they die from water change where a slight temp change can kill the fish! That is if the temp shift is fast. But micros are tropical... I don't get it. :(

omg thats so sad :( i really hoped they would let him keep his SH.

maryland has indeed changed its law , i am awaiting confirmation of exactly which species are banned at the moment . not just from marryland but from all over the world to try and put together a compleate list of what channa are banned or req licience anywhere around the world , its slow going though .

micropeltis is strickly tropical and cannot survive marryland temps , i think the report is wrong and i belive the two banned species are argus and asiatica but i will wait for confirmation on that .

obviously state law is below fedral law , so it is still illegal to import or transfer accross state line ANY species of channa or parachanna , so what this actualy means is it is now legal to sell or keep any channa apart from the listed two in maryland ( these will be restricted to fish that are allready in maryland from before the ban) . so IF someone in maryland is lucky enough to have had a group or pair stashed from before the ban you are now able to breed them and sell them within the state. without someone breeding within the state they will eventually die out as no new stock can be imported into the usa or from within another state in the usa.
aparently another couple of states have followed suit but again i am waiting for conformation of this.

cheers col
