just thought i'd post an update, and a huge thank you to RD. and the others who helped save my beani.
i never in a hundred years would have thought Epsom Salts would be the cure all for bloat.

it took around 2 weeks of treatment, adding a tablespoon of epsom salts to every 5 gallons of water in my tank, then adjusted the amount added to the amount of water i took out per water change, plus soaked his food in an epsom salt solution (which i still do every couple days just as a precaution)

he is now back to his old self minus his aggression to his tankmates, which is an added bonus.

but anyways, here is an updated video on him. sorry for the skinny frame, didnt realize if you hold the iphone on its side and record that way, you can flip it in youtube to be fullscreen. will definately do that for later video updates.

enjoy all

Glad to see that everything worked out, but as I suggested in your other thread - that is waaaaay too much food for that group of fish. I would personally cut the food intake way back, and stop using the epsom salt presoak as it will act as a purgative which may affect overall nutrient absorption in the gut.
It's not meant to be used on a long term basis.

Ok, roger that. That food is very nutrient dense, a little goes a long ways.
Nice to see an update of him back to his former self.

lol @ the Convicts vs Red Devil. I cracked up as soon as the video started

Beautiful Beani, I'm glad it worked out for you. I love the setup as well.

A smaller pellet and a smaller amount of food would go a long way. You also need some more driftwood or rocks on the left side of your tank to give more hiding sports. That RD will eventually destroy those convicts imo. Beautiful tank tho and beautiful fish.

Happy to see he's ok. I lost all my juveniles so I'm gonna wait till I can get a larger specimen

yeah i was thinking about adding more driftwood in the future.
i have flower pots in there for the red devil right now which, from personal experience, should be all i need for him.

i used to breed red devils for like 3 years and all they ever liked was a big strawberry flower pot. my breeding pair was fine with my old convicts and my Red Terror X Texas pair as well.
i just threw the convicts in to bring some life to the tank. the beani hides 90% of the time, so basically all anyone ever sees is the red devil.

im more worried about the beani killing everything in the future, than the red devil going after the convicts. but also from experience, ive had better luck with everything living together when they are all brought up together, so i figured id give it a shot.
