Thanks! :)

Gorgeous group of fish! I have one red tail payara, two baby armarus' that need to catch up to the red tail in size before they join in the 150 gal. Im looking to get a few atf vittatus in the near future, hope my guys look as beautiful as your group!!!

Thanks! They're my pride and joy! Those armatus should catch up in no time. ;)

Great looking group. What's the Hydrolycus tatauaia's been eating, cause he looks great?

From the time I got him until the day before yesterday, he was eating feeder goldfish. Normally I don't advocate feeding feeders, but this fish was deathly thing when I received him so I decided it was in everyone's best interest to get him healthy before trying to break him. The day before yesterday I was feeding pellets for the GATF and PTC and out of the blue this guy went to the surface and nailed a carnistick! So, from now on all he will get is carnisticks. LOL

That is an awesome collection of predators Rob! Don't suppose you'd post a feeding time video?

I'll try to get one this weekend. Friday is my water change day so they don't get fed. If the GATF is begging good, I'll feed him Saturday, if not I'll wait till Sunday. If I get a vid, I want it to be good. :)

love the red in the goliaths tail man.

Thanks! He does have very nice colors! He has a pretty striking black edge to all of his fins too, but it never shows up well in pictures. :/

nice tat!

Thanks! I got it back in February. It's based on the work of Barlowe and... uhhh...

Oh right, the tat.

The fish.

Right right right.

He's nice too! Thanks! lol :nilly:

that tat looks very unique with the dark intense colors!

Thanks guys! The tat's starting to bulk up a little. When I first got him, he was so emaciated that his stomach was shrunken to the point that when he was "full", only about half of his stomach was filled. You guys have vamps so I'm sure you know what I mean by that. He's getting to the point now that he can fill his belly. He's also starting to get good fin growth and is starting to have his tail fill out a bit. He seems to be coming along well, which me happy, as when I first got him he had trouble swimming in my strong current and was very lethargic. I really like him! He' a very close second to my Goliath as my favorite fish. :)

Awesome collection. I'm new here, need to get caught up on the shorthand names, so can you tell me what the PTC is short for? Is it the smaller silver guy with the bright red tail?

I'm looking to set up a grow out tank for 3 tats myself, I've always had serras (piranhas) and african cichlids, so this will be a new experience. Now I just need to find someone willing to sell 3 tats...

Pink Tailed Chalceus, Chalceus macrolepidotus. Yes, it's the smaller silver guy with the big scales.

You picked the right time of year to start looking! All of the payaras are just now coming into season. Good luck on your search!

You mentioned your tank being a grow out. What size is it? For any payara short of an armatus, you could get away with a 180 for life with adequate filtration.

Awesome, thanks! I have a 90 gallon right now, so was thinking 2 or 3 tats to grow out before moving to say a 180-220 when they're large enough to warrant it. Not sure if payara do better in larger groups or not? I'd like to do whatever makes them less skittish/more outgoing, so if they do better in a group, I'll do 3 of just tats. If they don't care either way, I'll probably do 1-2 tats, and a falcatus (red tail barracuda) for now. I'm still reading through all these threads pulling as much info as I can, so I can make a better decision to begin with.

Now going to look up info on the chalceus, that thing looks really nice!
