Update on my characins! GATF, Tat payara, Scomb payara, PTC! *load warning*

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Tats normally like the company of other payara, but a few have been known to be buttholes like armatus. If you get your tats small, they'd be ok in a 90 for quite a while. Tats grow slow, only about a half an inch per month.

Aces prefer to be in groups as well. When I had my falcatus (before the GATF split it in half) it would school with everyone else in the group. With the exception of my Juruense catfish, all of my fish school together. Aces, tats and scombs are all good schooling fish as long as no one in the group is small enough to be eaten.

Look up flagtail Prochilodus as well. They are another interesting looking characin that would do well in the type of community you and I like. I plan on getting one soon. Important note: if you get a flagtail or PTC, unless you have a HUGE tank (1000 gallong plus) stick to one per tank. They do ok in groups, but they are extremely aggressive to their own kind.

Thanks man, some good info. Sorry for the thread derail :D

I think maybe I'll go 2 of each on tats and falcatus, or 3 tats and 1 falcatus. Time will tell what I can find here soon.
