i'm not sure about that ph for the arowana... most places say 6-7 range and others say 7-8.... i don't really mind... mine's at an 8 even if the water come from my tap its at a 7 to 7.5 i believe... so nothing i can really do about it... except use my RO or buy a new house in a different area.... plus i need to change the filter or else i'm just adding ammonia to the tank.... been there done that.... not good... the fish were like not doing so hot so i just used the hose and i found out my RO filter was bad i need a new membrane... plus this is my 5th arowana

as quoted by me in the other thread
i'm on my fifth arowana first one i bought was impulse still had yoke sac (baby), second one jumped the tank though an opening on the top(4 inches), third one bad water change forgot to stop the syphon and refilled water way too fast so died of shock (1.5ft), fourth one got big and jumped the tank broke the glass lids off the tank so broken glass on the floor with arowana dried (2ft)

experience?... i'm full of it.... now hopefully this one is good... i learned from my mistakes and i share with you now.
1. pay the extra 10 bucks for a bigger arowana with no sac
2.cover all openings on tank no matter how small the hole is
3. partial water changes are good dont forget about your siphon tube while changing water
4. well covered with 1 gallon milk jugs of water on glass lids...
5. i'll tell you later down the line once i find out how this guy decides to leave me so far he's 5 inches and eats like a pig

I think this is the most telling item here in bold. All we've heard about is how you have lost fish. You are doing something wrong. Really wrong. You make it all out like the reasons you have lost all of these fish is because of just simple mistakes or from fish jumping which would not be your fault.

I've been doing this for 20 years and I have never heard of anyone have so many fish jump the way you have. I gotta call BS here. There is more to the story than you are letting on...

What's that line from Get Shorty, "Harry are you trying to tell me you screwed up without it sounding like you screwed up?"

I was just at one of my lfs and they had Front's two tanks of fronts. One tank had normal Burundi's the second had what looked like Juvi Burundi's but paler and those were labeled Red Frontosas. I asked the guys about them, and he just thought they were a dilute strain. I'm pretty new to Front's but would this make sense to anyone else or have you heard of them? And could that possibly be why his one is paler?

Don't buy fronts from a LFS if you don't have to. Buy from a local breeder. It will probably be cheaper, and you'll get better quality fish. Try cyphos.com and look at classifieds. LFS sell overbred, interbred fish. You'll get bad stripes, mooning, and you'll really never know what type you have. That's just my opinion.

yea but i've gotten these about 3 years ago and i dont feel like starting over.... i dont know any local breeders... thanks for the advice but if i decide to start a front colony over again i'll consider it.... i would probably go with something else and not the common fronts like what i have.... i like the deep blue ones they are so beautiful

well you must be really old because you've been in the hobby for 20 years...ive been living on this earth for 23 years.... i've been in the hobby for about 3-4 years now... and with more experience i have been gaining i don't think my track record will be as bad as it was in my PAST experiences... i haven't lost a fish in a while now(knock on wood)....thanks for your input i'm sure everyone has lost a few fish when they're just a beginner aquarist such as new tank syndrome, ich problems and not knowing what it is, impulse buying ie buying an oscar for you 10 gallon tank, etc... you just have to learn from your mistakes and build from them

red fronts are line breed, not really red, not really nice looking at all... I would stay away... Breeders are not all they are cracked up to be either...

but if you are wanting to be sure, a good breeder is a great idea....
