ryan, she was in the 55g with the black background up until a month ago and never really showed the bars unless the male was harassing her. no one really messes with her in the big tank though

Ah yes, I remembered after I posted that you had the little punctata ... those blue 33 are really pretty, I just wonder if it won't get too big for the gymno's ...

i dont think they'll be too small. the punctata is about 4" now, most of the gymnos now range from 3"-1.5" im going to keep them separate until december so hopefully the gymnos will put on more size. punctata should max at around 8" and the gymnos 5-6" i think

I'm not sure it is going to work either Sean. I think the pike will quickly be able to eat the female gymno's. If you want to keep them together you might want to go see Ken when he gets back from Uruguay and pick out the biggest adults he has for sale. All the females stay pretty small. An 8" pike could easily eat some of my females that I have had for a year. Maybe if you get some full grown wilds it won't be an issue.

from my experience with my last pike grew pretty slow. i've had it about 8months and has put on about 3" or so. ill talk to ken when he gets back. only one female is pretty small form the el norte and the unsexed Quilero. we'll see. i've had filipe and bigpic over in the pic section say they've had a big size difference btwn gymnos and pikes and never had a problem with them

Cool. They would know best. Gymno's are pretty tall bodied so hopefully they won't be snacks.

yeah. they have some pretty nice adult gymnos at a LFS here but they want atleast $60 for the pair lol. i was gonna offer a trade for the silver dollars :D
