^what I was thinking because of the more solid bars.
Well Salvador is a an area in Brazil where C. pinima is found. C. temensis is not found anywhere even remotely close to that area. Years ago I had the same exact fish imported directly from the same general area. If you want photos let me know. They are a nice-looking locality of C. pinima.

Here you go.
Cichla pinima "Salvador"
At the time these images were taken, by me, they were about 4-5 inches or so. These same fish were said to have come from the Rio Tocantins I think. Memory is fading on them, but I clearly remember then offered as being netted in the Salvador region either way. Don't hold me to the river!!!

Also, for your reference between C. pinima and TRUE C. temensis here are two photos of my C. temensis from the Rio Ventuari in Venezuela. You can clearly differentiate between the two species.

Adult C. temensis (paca phase) from Rio Orinoco.

Here is a photo ERRONEOUSLY calling these fish C. temensis "Salvador." They are really C. pinima as I have already stated several times. The photo is from www.amazon-exotic-import.de in Germany.
