They're not pinima and they're NOT temensis... And DM's "temensis" were pinima, they (C. pinima) were just not described when d-mack had them.

If they are not pinima, then what do you suggest they are?

Yeah, what do you think they are then if not pinima or temensis?

This one looks more Pinima looking to me.. but doesnt look like the other one. This is only really only 1" bigger? The other one still has the full horazontal bar going through the body.

I already told you, they're Cichla cf. Salvador. They are an undescribed species as of now.

Sorry pal but you are WRONG... They are indeed cichla Temensis caught from the Rio Tapajos.. Nice try though :) have a nice day.

Sorry, but you REALLY don't know your cichla, C. temensis' range is NOWHERE near Tapajos... Also, it has already been discussed that Dieselmack's cichla WERE IN FACT Cichla pinima. I think more people need to think, and actually do some research before posting... As there is no way that Dieselmack's Cichla cf. tapajos (aka C. pinima) would look like temensis to the trained eye.

:ROFL::ROFL: Post pics of your pinima that "look nothing like that"
Also, the Cichla temensis "tapajos" on auqa-bonito.com are in fact pinima. If you still think they are temensis, then you really can't spot the difference between juvenile temensis and juvenile pinima.

Why would they lable that a temensis if its a pinima and they have other cichla labled pinima? Why would they just call those a Temensis still? I mean It just doesnt make sence..

Also whats your intake on this Salvador? What do you think it could be?

If I remember right... pinima, vazzoleri and some of the other "temensis - type" cichla are found in Salvador.
Now, these all look similar, especially when younger.

Just remember, LFS' aren't what I would call the people with the best information, they aren't scientists, and see so many fish a day that it can confuse them, ect. Most of the time, the fish are sold from exporters as "insert fish species name here" and that is what the vendors/LFS' go off of most often. They are trying to sell stuff, but it's up to you to know what it is you are buying.

Not sure what they are, like I said, they are most likely an undescribed species.
