Hey all.

I want to say thanks again for all the great advice and support. You guys have been awesome.

I thought I would update with some pictures of the little guys. The pictures won't be of the greatest quality because they are moving around so much these days. These were honestly the best out of all the pictures I took, ha. The white specks are the Vitamin B1. The burns are getting smaller and are smooth with the rest of their discs now (instead of the inward wounds). Healing is a little slower than normal. We haven't been able to do many treatments because the medications counteract with the cycling process, leading to the high levels of ammonia that we still haven't been able to reduce.

They're still not the best to look at, but they are doing much better and are definitely healing up. It may be surprising that they still have the dents on their foreheads and still seem a little thin, but they're undoubtedly filling in (notice the little j-lo booties, hehe). I'm feeling really confident that all four of them are going to make it, and we're really excited about that.

However, the ammonia is consistently at 1.0 despite all of our attempts to lessen it. We honestly feel like we have tried everything, so we're completely open to any new ideas.

Thanks again, everyone.
Matt & Ashley

First Shot of #1: Notice the slight inward marks near his burn where his skin is trying to compensate for the wound.

Names coming soon. ;)

looking good thus far. Great work.

They are looking better, you guys are doing an awesome job. Sounds like you either don't have enough bio media or it is not fully cycled. I had the same problem with a 75 gallon tank that had hang on power filters for a total of 120 gallon size tank. I ended up floating 2 dozen scrubbies from my main tanks sump on the surface of the water and the ammonia went away in 1 day. I of course replaced the ones I removed in the main tank with new ones.

lots and lots of massive water changes will be your best bet.

I definitely hear you. We've been doing a little more than 50% water changes about once per day. It's a 150-gallon. Even after a 50% water change, the lowest we've seen it is 0.5... but usually it's 0.75.

We have two 523-gallon fiberglass tanks with viewing windows coming in about two or three weeks. Putting two of them in another tank will help the load. I was just hoping we could figure out something a little more reasonable between now and then. Hopefully we'll figure out what the hold up is soon.

Thanks. Yeah, I definitely think the tank is having a hard time cycling. I mean, the whole thing was so spontaneous. We have two 30-gallon HOB filters, one 20-gallon HOB filter, an FX5 and bio tower filled to the brim with pot scrubbies. We even put pot scrubbies inside the HOBs. I'm not really sure what the hang up is. I think we'll try using some of the bio media from the 125. It's just so wild... even our favorite LFS's give us their filter squeeze after we let them know what's been going on. We even tried Nic's SeaChem Stability. And nothing. I mean, they're doing fine in there... but the ammonia really needs to be 0, especially with how they're needing to heal right now.

Get some FRITZ turbo start or Bio-Spira it will cycle the tank right away. If cant find either one a local store by me sells the Bio-Spira in 90 gallon doses I can mail you some with ice to keep them cool if need be just let me know.

Looks like they're having a good recovery! Good Job! If I ever get reincarnated as a Sting Ray and abused, I hope you pick me up:D

:D

We actually just got our second bottle of this stuff in today, right before the 360, ha. We used half of the first bottle on the hospital tank. :irked:

Do you think the refrigerated Bio-Spira would do a better job? We haven't to find that stuff anywhere! If you think it could work some magic that Turbo Start can't, we'll take some as quick as you can send it. Let's just see if this second bottle of TS can take care of what's going on first..?
