So he has really been enjoying his new home. He is pretty mellow and has completely ignored the baby fh that I used to test my tank. So I figured he could use some company, and since petsmart had a great deal on parrots, I picked out one that I liked and she joined him in the tank.

He started chasing her around, but hes not the most agile swimmer so she has no trouble keeping her distance. I got her a log to hide in, and it was a site to see Bolo chase her then stalk around the log, looking in every hole but too big to come in. He has gotten used to her to the point that he may chase her if he sees her eating but otherwise theyre getting along great. As you can tell, she's tiny compared to him, but bigger parrots were 30 bucks, and this one was only 5 and she was nice and feisty and thankfully it worked out great.

Sorry for the pics, Im still trying to dial it in. I used led lights overhead and the flash on my D40 as lighting.

I love red and white RD and the fact its bonsai is icing on the cake.

Thanks, he is a lot like the flowerhorn I tried to get from Vietnam through aquabid, this one was local so it was a no-brainer. As huge as he is, he's pretty gentle. He's very clownish, maybe its because he swims around in such a funny manner but he really is a funny fish.

You know they are a well matched pair of fish. He's enormous, plodding and slow, and she is small, fast and feisty. Im starting to really like them.

Heres a few more pics, the first one gives a good idea of his sheer mass.

The best part is that he is really looking happy in his new tank. Its only a 54 gallon but the layout works really well for him. He enjoys strutting around and likes to just sit in the powerhead stream. I want to get some footage of him maneuvering around, he swims in all different axes and directions. All in all, this guy was a good match for me in many ways, and the parrot is a great little sidekick for him. Im really looking forward to his progress.
