Thanks for the plug Andrew!!! I think the second batch may start getting sold soon!!! New house equals lots of bills!!! As well as some of my other SA/CA cichlids and Texas Hybrids. Need the tanks for other breeding projects I wanna start. Looking to breed RTM and possibly festae, if I can find a pair, or any available group to get a pair for that matter!!!:irked:

Here is an updated pic of one of my growouts from the first batch. Tried to get clear shots but he like to move a lot!!!!! You can see the red checks starting to come in on the tail in the second pic and the PEARLS!!! This one is gonna be a stunner!!!:headbang2:drool:

I don't know if you planned on going down to the ACA convention in Oconomowoc in July, but I am sure you'd find something awesome there for a project!

hhmmmm.....great idea!!!!

It is if you can be patient until late July! A friend of mine is changing up his tank and we plan to pick up something cool there. I plan to look out for a mate for my rd/midas, but if I have a female fader in this bunch I got from you then I probably won't get anything there.

One thing I'm starting to notice with everybody's updates is that the fish all look overweight LOL but I'm assuming it's just because everybody has been feeding them heavily because they want them to grow fast.

^ noticed the same thing! I have not been feeding them quite to that point. The thing is with these guys is that they are constantly waiting there for food and I have set feeding times and do not feed them little bits in between very often. The tank they're in is next to my couch, so they should be used to my presence without food. Oh well, I'd rather have a bunch of beggers than fish that refuse to eat.

Yeah my growouts do the same thing. Whenever they see me they are begging for food!!! I am only feeding them 3 times daily with a spiriluna flake and bits mix. Occasionally I feed the growth pellets from Ken's Fish and a spiriluna powder mixed with veggies, garlic, and prawns.(Version of Frozen Shrimp mix recipe).

Well, FYI for everyone, the second batch is going up for sale TONIGHT!!! Look for it, I have a good deal going for the weekend. They are perfect size to ship (1/2 to 1in).

Twice a day feedings here with spirulena and algae wafers, frozen bloodworms and mysis shrimp twice a week. To me they seem to be growing agonizingly slow, but are looking healthy so I suppose I can't complain. I think mine are a bit behind everybody elses though. I think my largest might be pushing 2", smallest is now pushing 1".

Chris ~ Does the probability of getting more faders/SRT increase with each spawn? Or will the percentage roughly stay the same each time? I suppose if you bred one of the females back to the father that might increase your chances right?

Or how would you go about increasing this chance? What would I personally have to cross my babies back to in order to get a fair ratio of RT/SRT out of them young?

Since these were spawned with a male tex and a female SRT, do you think the males will be fertile? I have a female carp. that is looking hott, and wouldn't mind breeding one of yours back with it to see if it would strengthen it or something. Would this be possible or would I just be wasting my time?
