Updates from the 300

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What? why? I was considering them. are they that bad?

While they are cool to watch in their schooling behavior, they also can be skittish and dart everywhere when they spook. They are very aggressive feeders with me getting soaked since I could not close the lid fast enough to not get drenched by their speed of feeding. They also add to the bio load.

They can be 'stupid'... I really cant find another word to use here. Watching a SD get 'stuck' in a corner of the tank and freaking out is kind of funny, yet sad.

Who knows, now with the 8ft tank it might have been better but in a 6ft (210g) tank it was way too much.

Well no oscar.... my buddy went to pick up the fish and said he was not impressed. So I trust his judgement and decided to just wait it out for a better fish or just grow out my own.

Mr Koliba came out to swim around

Thank you, this one has been with me since my start in the poly game.

Still kind of ‘little’ when it comes to size. I got it from Aquatic Day Care in August of 2013. It came in at 7” and now 4 years and 4 months later it is maybe 15”. Always lived in good sized tanks yet slow growing. It started putting on size when I followed Burbotman Burbotman suggestion of night feeding. She has serious girth for sure but just cant get any length on her. Very outgoing swimmer but shy eater.
