Updates: Some good some bad....(Bichir)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are they rare or fairly common, for a 9 inch how much could I sell it for $40 cheap? or overpriced thxs guys!!
That's cheap for that price and size. I've seen more for that size. A regular poly seen and available.

Its a nigerian lapradei, fair price for 9"$40, pretty common WC lap, but usually always mislabeled.

Try do put a divider and keep it away from the FH. Nogerian laps are known for not defending themselves, maybe its stress out from getting bullied thats why it dont want to eat. Try feeding lights of it helps alot since yours look to be wild caught and they a noctural fish.

Your lucky Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 cause I've seen them for way more. At those prices no wonder you have so many lol.

Most of the time here they wont have it in the store unless you know the lfs carry some bichirs, but when you ask them their list for next shippment they always read a palmas bichir 6"-9"$40 then you know its a nigerian lap. Sometimes if the lfs knows you already you can even ask them to ask the supplier for picture before you order. I do that all the time, i have my 3 favorite lfs in my area, lol

I think its everywhere like that, its one of the polys that always get mislabeled, some senegal ive seen are labeled as nigerian polys, some delhezi are labeled endli and endli labeled as delhezi. Aslong as you know their difference label dont mean a thing.
When i first started, i had to do research on the poly before i bought it, then i learned MFK which help me alot on how to id other species and varients.

Nigerian lap and you'll eventually have to mmake a choice between the flowerhorn or the lap. Flowerhorns generally dont play well with others and yours is already ahowing classic signs of it. Once the kill switch goes off it will be too late.

I'd attribute its lack of appetite to stress.

No poly regardless of how aggressive it is will stand a chance against a cichlid intent in clearing a territory....especially flowerhorn or CA
