im getting a different one for him. i think this one is gonna have koi in it. my fiance wants to put 1 or 2 in it and let them grow. but the other pool im getting for my gar isnt much smaller than this one.

If you want to do the pool thing now is the time. Local Kmart has all the pools on sale, they've got a 15' x 42" frame pool for $200 (half price). I'd love to grab it, make a monster pond.

Sweet pool and gar. Stupid question but aren't the net holes too large? Good to keep large things out but bad for keeping skinny things in right?:D

he is to big to fit through the holes. i dont think he will jump cuz he is really laid back.

sweet longnose.
looks like hes enjoying the pool.

i think he likes it.

Your Longnose is really looking great!

I have a slight concern about that netting though? I know there is really no other way to cover it, but it seems to me that the gar could possibly get caught in that net if it jumped high enough (almost like a gill net).

i've never seen him jump, so i don't think he will.

with fish as unpredictable as gars, that's like saying "some countries have nuclear bombs. i've never seen them use it before, so i dont think they will"

better safe than sorry bro:)

I always thought the same thing, until i've had two different (very calm) gars jump out my tank. Now i have custom cut glass tops, that allow NO room for them to escape. They still never jump...but they can at any moment. It's better to cover your ass than learn the hard way.
