upgrade for my longnose..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think I have to third this.... Never trust a gar. Just because they have always shown one side does not mean they will not show another. These fish are very unpredictable. Adding a small bank of floating plants and some tighter weave shade cloth would be better than the netting..

I always thought the same thing, until i've had two different (very calm) gars jump out my tank. Now i have custom cut glass tops, that allow NO room for them to escape. They still never jump...but they can at any moment. It's better to cover your ass than learn the hard way.

i know what you and xander mean. but its the best its gonna get without the net touching the water. and if the net touching the water when he goes to breathe we dont want his teeth to get caught in the net. so we did what we thought would work best for him.

true. but we were also on a budget. and got what we could afford.(we only had 20 bucks and the net was 5) is there anyway we can raise the net?? thanks for the advise and i will try to make the net higher just incase he does do something like that.

another thing i didn't think of. is the pond outdoors? will birds/other animals pose a threat to the fish? and i think i forgot to mention, great upgrade! the longnose is going to love it:D

yes the pond is outdoors. the only animals that pose a threat are cats(never really see birds in the yard). but i dont think the 2 cats will be smart enough to get inside the net unless they rip it. i hardly ever see them around the pond unless im checking on the gar. oh yea i forgot to mention that i swam with him and he let me pet him.
BTW thanks xander.
