URGENT HELP NEEDED - SOAP IN AQUARIUM

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do I see activated carbon in your pic on the right? If so, I would leave it in place a day or two before removing it.
I have new activated carbon I could add

Might even put an airstone in the sump and skim out the resulting foam/suds. That might also be an indicator of how successful you have been diluting/removing the soap.

That’s a good idea! I’m gonna clean the sump real good, add a bunch of activated carbon, and do as large of a water change as I possibly can

If you put in new carbon during your recent water change/re-scape, it is probably still active. The more carbon and fresher the better however. Just not sure how good carbon is at removing the stuff that is in laundry soap.

using the airstone I’m getting very minimal bubbles in the main compartment that was contaminated (already drained and scooped). I’m the pump section there is almost nonexistent. Gonna test the main tank in a second…

Great to hear it. I think you'll get through this OK. Just as a worst case scenario plan in the event that fish start looking stressed, could they be distributed through your other tanks?

Unfortunately not. My only other tank that could reasonably house them is my 120 but it’s full of African cichlids.

Just a contingency plan thought, don't think you'll have to remove the fish. In this case I think "dilution if the solution to pollution".
