URGENT HELP NEEDED - SOAP IN AQUARIUM

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah - I’ve run through the water in my well by cleaning the sump. Things are gonna have to sit now for a little bit

The good news tho is there doesn’t appear to be any lasting bubbles from the air stone in the sump anymore. There is a thin layer in the upper tank (more like a film), so I think with a large water change it will be ok

UPDATE: Well had run dry. Not enough water to get the sump running yet :/
Fish seem to be doing well. I plan to watch for when I get water back to get the sump
Filled. Then gonna let the well recover for a bit and do another big water change later tonight.

another update..
Just finished filling the tank and the suds are back… it’s odd because the air stone didn’t make them appear but when I turned on the pump and water started coming out of the pipes it immediately started up again. Thoughts?

Do they still smell soapy? Do you ever have foam just from organics? Any medications added recently? Some of those cause foam.
Doesn’t smell soapy. No meds added. I’ve never noticed it to this extent, sometimes just some very small bubbles

May still be the surfactants/foaming agents from the detergent then if there is no other possible cause from the water supply or additions to the tank. The good thing is that the fish don't seem to be effected by it, but I know you won't rest easy until there's no more sign of soap residue.

I agree with everyone.

I have one thing to add: do you have another tank or some buckets you can put the fish in? If it doesn't clear up and you're worried about the fish, you could scoop them up and stick them in clean, dechlorinated water.
