URGENT HELP NEEDED

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say that it was beat up pretty badly. The survival rate of that juvinile arowana is like 35%. Please DO NOT put it back in tank tank with the african chichlids.

Hello all - as predicated yesterday he passed away. But I’d like to tell you all a story.

Picture it, a little over a week ago. I’m casually visiting my local fish store in search of something new and interesting, low and behold there sit a “baby” (~4.5 - 5”) silver arowana. Now I have been keeping fish for 6 years - I know of silver arowanas legendary size, but I have a 150 now and have wanted an excuse to upgrade for a long time. I’m unsure but they tell me he is pellet trained already and that convinces me. I pick him up, bring him home, and name him Wu. The next day my Oscar has a big belly and he’s gone. I knew the risks, he has ignored fish smaller than him before so I took it. Sad but not totally discouraged I go online and order another one. He arrives in good health and I put him in my 130 to grow a bit before going in with the big boys. He does great! He’s eating well and active. Then two days ago I wake up and he has been totally beat up by the others fish. I rush him to a hospital tank but yesterday he passes from his injures. Now completely discouraged I accept that right now is not a good time for an arowana. Neither of my tanks is hospitable enough to grow one out. I wake up this morning, step out into the fishroom and what do I see, I see Wu, the fish I thought had been eaten. He’s swimming around at the top looking healthier than when I got him. For over a week he was nowhere to be seen - I even rescaped the tank and he wasn’t there. No idea how he did it so his name is now Houdini!

He’s eating well and all the other fish are ignoring him.

Maybe the Oscar spit him out lol
Still, I would set up another tank for Houdini, just because he came back this time, next time he might not

Update: Houdini is doing well! He is an absolute pig with food, he is taking as much as my big fish - Note that this is not something intentional, he is simply taking it from them. I think hes gonna grow fast... XD
Also, all the others completely ignore his existence.
