wasnt cool lost alot of fish
but just tell you lfs and they should get something for it

rickly lbc, i do appreciate the link, but ive been keeping fish for over ten years. Im well accustomed to hexmita. It definately not hemixta. Unfortuneatly the symptoms my fish are showing are almost the opposite to hexmita. This post is pretty much over now anyway guys. i just lost another one and am now about to euthanaise the other fish. Would rather lose just the three then all my other juvies. Ive only got 5 healthy ones left.

Thanks everyone for your help. :(

Are the fish bloated? Bloat can have the same symptoms also. Same syptoms, white feces... Any of this sypmtoms?

The first symptom is usually a loss of appetite. Other characteristics follow if treatment if not begun at this point. These secondary characteristics include abnormal swelling of the abdomen (hence the name-bloat), an increased respiratory rate, reclusiveness, white streaky feces, and sitting on the bottom of the tank or lingering at the surface. Red marks around your fish's anus or skin ulcerations might also be apparent (as shown in the picture below). Symptoms only appear in the latter stages of the disease; therefore, it is important to begin treatment as soon as symptoms are noticed, otherwise you will most likely lose your fish

It was not bloat either. Apart from heavily gasping there were no onther symptoms. Fish were social, with the occasional surface sitting. They would stay with the others when they ate, but would not eat themselves. One fish was noticably discoloured as of stressed, the other 2 were normal. Ive taken out the fish with the last sign of trouble and euthanized him. I can risk it being passed on. Although tomorrow i will goto my lfs and get some meds just in case it appears in the others. maybe triple sulphur as a drastic measure. Its a pretty ****ty day god knows how long ive been looking for nice monoculus juvies in oz and ive lost 8 altogether. Turns out if they are big enough they ll eat eachother. :(

Thanks for all your help.

Sorry bout ur losses mate :(

Thanks so mush guys. But i think ive found the problem. Hydrogen sulfide poisening. There is no smell coming from the surface of the tank water at all.

I have a 8x2x2 with three openings at the top. Far left, far right and centre as per a standard tank. I feed all my fish from either end, and removing the glass to feed i have never smelt anything out of the ordinary, untill late last night when i took off the middle piece of glass.

It was a foul egg smell typical of hydrogen sulphide. It was comin up from my bubble wall which is dead centre in my tank. Ive noticed my ammonia level is up slightly too. I think its due to an abundance of brown algae off my drift wood.

i cant clean the tank unitill my wife gets home later today so i hope they are ok untill then. I cant believe i never saw the signs earlier, im so stupid. :(
