urine to cycle tank?

Lolz I drive a ford, but every other day there is something new wrong with it. It's just living up to its reputation, Fix Or Repair Daily(FORD)

A friend of mine cycled the entire central system for his shop by peeing in the sump every day. He was a bit wacky in the head, but it did indeed work.

The only problem is like has been said before that you don't know what else other than ammonia is in the urine. Considering the pain meds he was on at the time, any fish put in the tank would most likely be quite stoned.

I agree that ammonium chloride is the way to go.

I've read in articles both on and off the net that urine is fine for a fishless cycle. If this was my tank, I would do it. But the tank IMO would be larger than 120G's. I would let the tank cycle for a minimum of 5 week's and pee in it on days 3, 5 and MAYBE 7, if you have inadequate filtration.

Oh come on guys! the fish pee n poop (does a fish pee?) in the water its hole life and u stick your hand inside the tank... Its ok if its your own pee but when its someone else its not. - bulletproof .... or what ever that line was XD

Apparently it does work but you wouldnt catch me doing it. If im doing a fishless cycle I use frozen prawns.

Um, I like fords. Thankyouverymuch. I wouldn't pee in my fish tank. I wouldn't want to put my hands in afterwards if I did it. Fish pee is ok.

The thought of fish pee never even come to some people's mind.

Apparently, urine does work as people have claimed but...no deal! I'd never use it on my tanks. How do you think are we going to cope with the smell? Phew!
