let them sit in hot water for like ten minutes and then let them run with the tank full for a day or two with the temp around 85.

Just run in through diluted bleach. Wipe everything down with diluted bleach, and rinse SUPER WELL! Like, take it outside, get the hose, and blast everything down. Then let it all dry.

Good as new.
