well maybe if stores were to charge $2 per gallon then i could see people charging $1 per gallon.... anyways petco sometimes had a $1 per gallon sale up to 55 gallons and $2 per gallon up to 180 or so... i could be wrong for the last one but the sale is usually during the fall
is that just the glass, or with accessories?

sorry to derail

not really derailing, he asked about $1 per gallon so i give him info about what i know that is $1 per gallon.... its just the glass tank.... accessories is where they make their money.... cause you got a nice 55gallon tank for 55 bucks but no stand...so what do you do?? you buy one at 100 and some odd bucks! then you get your filters to filter your 55 gallon tank cause i'm sure you upgraded your 10 gallon tank to something that is 5.5x as large ect... you get the idea

here this will help both you guys out http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131686&highlight=petco+sale

Have you tried Craigslist? Patience and CL have always come through for me, and ask at every LFS you go to see if anyone is looking to sell a tank. That's how I got my 125 with everything for uber cheap.

i live in marion 52302 and i think i might have to settle for a 75 gallon. but then the question would be what to put into it because i fisrst wanted to get a big enough tank for a wolf fish

craigslist + lots of patience = big tank for a good price.

i checked every CL section close to me 2x a day until I found one that I liked. now that's dedication!!!

Big Al's (up in Canada at least) is now selling bare-bones tanks very cheap. Just bought a 38g for $45 and a 75g for $119. That's for brand new, darn good pricing.

Someone at head office got smart and realized you get people to invest in big tanks, they will need to buy lots of stuff for it.

Look at ebay and do a search within 200 miles. That's where I've got most of my tanks.
