Some where
Not quite sure where this should be posted

But i was just wondering what people think about this. every one has been walking around there lfs (this happens alot more in big pet stores like pet supplies plus petco petsmart etc.) and u see that one unfortunate sole upside gasping panting in a slow grusome death. and most people no that the stores just throw these fish out. now i was wondering if it would be a completley idiotic idea to get these fish (for free) and feed them to piranhas (or any fish really)

i know feeding live is usually controversial especially gold fish, rosy red minnows, etc but im talking about like tinfoil barbs, bala sharks and other similar fish

what are good ways to examine for parasites (internal and external)

if the fish dies in front of you is there a set time it takes for parasites to die out of water.

pretty much i just want to hear peoples opinions and suggestions on this

It wouldnt be worth the risk in any way in my opinion.

I was talking to a guy that worked at petco and they arent allowed to sell or give away dead or almost dead fish. They had a couple clown loaches covered in ich that he said they were going to have to euthanize it was so bad. I asked to take them off their hands instead of letting them die since i had an open QT tank and i wasnt allowed to due to store policy.

your avatar is sick....and i would advise against doing this because they chances they died from disease or parasites are very great.

whats ur avatar of?

in the wild isnt it the sick or injured that get eating first?

if you are gonna do it make sure you know why the fish is dead in the first place.. might be a disease

I wouldn't feed a fish dying (most likely from disease) to another fish, unless you want to spread disease

Bad idea in my opinion............ just asking for trouble... i would never risk it .

I really do not think that having what seems to be a real corpse in your avatar is quite the best idea. Forgive me if that is not what it is.

As to your question rock on kill your fish by feeding them the sick, the disease ridden and dying all you want. As for me I prefer to keep my fish and tanks healthy

Cool idea bro. According to my calculations, when you factor in the savings on fish food, and the amount you spend on meds from treating your fish after they get ill from eating diseased fish corpses, you come out ahead $1.38/year.
