using dead dying fish as feeders?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
:barf:
The question has been answered, so I wasn't gonna say anything... but I just threw up all over my dog.

Ok, I'm just kidding. But someone please let me know if/when he changes his avatar because until then, for the sake of my stomach, it's ignore list time.

Bad idea all around. An lfs fish under enough stress that it's dying can cause a ton of headaches in your tank. Consider that they're dying, most commonly, from parasites, fungal infections, bacterial infections, and/or starvation. Any of these reasons is reason enough to know your fish would NOT be getting the proper nutrition they require.
Less of a risk are those fish that are attacked or suffer jump injuries. These may be fed (to be read: if the tank they're from is healthy) to larger predators. Preferably, FW jumps may be fed, at a limited frequency, to large SW preds. This way there is an even better decrease in the chances of contracting a pathogen from a FW environment.

in the wild isnt it the sick or injured that get eating first?
our tanks don't represent the wild.

the fish would probably never come in to contact with such variety of diseases. fish in the tanks come from all over the world with different diseases.

think of the native americans and small pox.

is there a safe way to feed live how about nitecrawlers/earthworms and other insects or not even live i would just like to feed them more than krill to change up there diet as piranhas in the wild arent fed freeze dried krill at the same time every day. (they dont accept cichlid pelets) and i dont like to feed beef and other meats because their just so messy (and of course other problems like pereservatives) and everything vegiterian like plants or veg fish food they bite at but spit or gill it out

theres cooked and raw shrimp, frozen silversides, pellets such as cichlid pellets and massivore if they are larger p's.. the only safe feeders are those you quarenteen..but they do not add up to much nutritional value.you can feed earthworms but they need to be raised by you... outside elements such as pesticides effect the quality of insects and would harm your fish and pollute your tank.

I have a guppy tank that supplies my FH with weekly treats. He also get's market shrimp on occasion and earth worms when I can find them. Earthworms make me nervous though as I don't want to introduce ferts/pesticides or some parasite or harmful bacteria.

thank u and i left a post explaining and apologizing for the avatar but MFK deleted it for clean up what dies that mean(i spent time on that post) =[

Clean up is just generally removing what is more or less filler material. And thank you for the avatar change :D
