That is our dish remote for scale. I have an auto drip system and in the summer the overflow water goes right out side to my wife's "garden". I use that term loosely because all she does is plant the seeds and then waits a few months and harvests the fruits of my cichlids labor!.

I have NEVER had fish water (or equipment) in my mouth.:nilly:yuck
in my eyes, now that's a different story.

you can use it, look up aquaponics.

I would not use it when medicating or salting. I would also avoid using filter squeezings or gravel vacuumings as they can be pretty strong and may over-fertilize some plants.

Most any medicine used to treat your aquarium fish water should NOT be used to water plants designated for Human consumption.

You have just gotten LOADS of BAD advise from MFK. Even as a newbie, I have to (once I am finished chokeing) give you the only good advise that you will get here on the topic. NO!

Unless you NEVER have used fish medications in ANY of the tanks you are currently changing, and all of your tanks you are the original owner of so that the previous owner did not use meds in the tank(s), than you cannot be 100% certain of it's safety.

For Pete's Sake OP, You are LITERALLY risking the live of your family to try to save a couple of pennies in water. There is no intelligent Human that would take this risk. Water treatments can also have HORRENDOUS effects on your plant. Try a copper based product in your tank to control algea (plant life) and then use that water to "feed" your plants. Copper isn't the greatest plant fertilizer!

I use my fish water to water my plants! I have a long hose that drains right from the tanks to the gardens/ flowerbeds. I just don't use it to feed plants that are being grown to feed my family.

I am 100% certain that my W/C water is not PERFECTLY unmedicated/ untreated, so my decision to not use the water for edible plants is a no brainer. If you are absolutely 100% certain of the water treatment/ medication free water within your tanks, then I guess it is OK and NOT a great risk to your family's health.

The key is 100%. Are you 100%?

I would agree with the above statement... though not as.. aggressively... as a pregnant woman I would avoid produce grown with large amounts of fishtank water that HAS been medicated.... as pointed out the salt you use is not good for the plants long-term. But do i think you shouldn't use tank-water to water your veggies? not neccisarily. IMO it would depend on how much your useing... I will say I DO use my tank-water to water our rose bushes and this works better then any fertilizer I've ever tried( and I'm positive their are alot less chemicals involved! ) . I would be cautiouse.. but I wouldn't not use it to grow certain crops. I would do more research on it... But I doubt it is unsafe to use tank-water under normal useage. I wonder if tank-water being used to water crops would make them fall into the "organic" catagory?... lol

its not that bad to use fish water in your plants that you eat because the produce that the stores sell is much more disgusting if you think about it. they use recycled human feces as fertilizer and recylced sewage water your vegetables

i guess if your that anal about everything. theres tons of stuff you need to worry about then. lol. Buy a R/O unit and only use that water. just waste your old tank water. it just evaporates anyway and rains back to us.If you dont use natural fish meds. then maybe you have something to worry about. plus your carbon in your filter should remove the meds. plus its not stagnant water and is being filtered at least 4 times in one hour. and there is living fish in it. o my. lol. Unless its maybe goldfish or koi. i dont wanna argue. if you dont agree then just state your opinion and dont say everyone is giving you bad advise.
