Using fish tank water to water plants

Given the wide variety of water treatments and additives that claim to do everything from remove ammonia to kill snails, I would not use tank water for certain crops (like the ones on the first list I posted) unless I knew for sure that the water does not contain any of those things. Besides, I think most bottles have warnings saying something along the lines of 'do not use on fish intended for human consumption'. Just like equine dewormers say 'do not use in horses intended for human consumption'. In other words, ingesting this even indirectly is not a good idea.

I would have no problem using my personal tank water for everything, as I don't use any water conditioner, aquarium salt or medications. I'm sure not everyone can say the same, which is not a bad thing - just something to be aware of before watering your vegetables or fruit.

Do you think the fish poo is getting into my fruit? Cuz........I have a bridge for sale......
it's use to water the plants not to wash the food!

I think most agree here that the plants(roots) will absorb what is given to them as far as the chemicals/material in the water. What I can't get out of my mind was a post a few months ago about a girl 10-14 years old that got a life-threatening disease from sticking her hand in a fish tank... while rare it can happen. I also know it's slightly different entering your mouth vs. entering an open cut... but why chance it?

That's why city treat their water instead of going natural.

I think the final outcome to the OP is that it can be done but there could also be risks that he may never see if he's lucky.
