does saltwater do the same?

No. The salt from salt water tanks is too strong for any type of plant. Too much salt on any plant will result with burned roots and the plants eventually will get root rot and die. Especially with trees, shrubs and lawns (salt will burn the roots, turns lawns brown. Remove old grass and first 8 to 10 inches of old soil, replace with fresh topsoil and replant).

I hope this helps. :)

Right. No saltwater on plants. Before Roundup weed-n-grass killer, the way we killed plants on garden/driveway borders was by mixing a saturated salt/water solution with some dish soap to help it stick to plant surfaces. This mix killed every plant it touched and prevented new growth for months.

I might give this a try.

I use my "gray water" on the garden and yard. Its a shame if you just flush it but, having a reef tank as well, I always feel bad for putting that down the drain.

I gravel-wash/drain over 2,000 gallons from my tanks into my veggie gardens each week. My wife's tropical plants and bamboo are also watered with aquarium water. Works like MiracleGrow.
I agree-I've been doing this for years. Including any dead fish etc-bury them in the soil. It's nature at its best.
