Right. No saltwater on plants. Before Roundup weed-n-grass killer, the way we killed plants on garden/driveway borders was by mixing a saturated salt/water solution with some dish soap to help it stick to plant surfaces. This mix killed every plant it touched and prevented new growth for months.
That may be the coolest thing I ever read....well....okay, maybe not the coolest but free weed killer? I am on it!!! I of course just spent over $100 last week on the round up etc but at least I know now how to save some cash for the future. Weeds around here will always come back TO SAY HELLO. So I know I'll be outta killer soon enough :irked:

My gf always uses it on our garden and everything seems to benefit from it.

Wow, I would have never thought of this. I'm going to start to use w/c water on my plants........

One of the best things you can feed plants.

it is def good for the plants. I have a basil plant that I have been watering with fish water. my gf took a few stems that sported to work. florescent lights form 8am to 8pm with normal water. the plants at home are 5 times as big. it has only been 1 month at most.

After reading this thread i started doing this, and i have to say my plants have definitely benefited from it... fish tank water definitely works like steroids imo...

Go to any garden shop and look at how much you have to pay for fish emulsion organic fertilizer. We generate this stuff all day every day, just a more dliuted form, (unless you are long times between Water Changes LOL) I used to do water changes for my tank at a house I rented and all winter I would just dump it over the railing of the porch to watch it melt the snow. The next spring and summer the grass that was in front of that porch grew 2-3 times as fast as the rest. Rinsing mechanical filter media (ie sponges, filter socks, etc) in a 5 gallon bucket first and pouring this on a favorite plant is also amazing.

i've been back in the hobby 3 yrs now. frm the begining i started draining my tank into my yard, and noticed greener grass and fastr growth. it was only in the areas where the water ran to my drainage in my yard. so since i tend to run my drain line across my yard,(when i remember). so far till this day i only fert my front lawn...:)
