I would tend to agrree... Not a fan either

works fine when i have used it in the past

but i do have lots of air

It's about the only med I use with my rays and it works well. Best of all, it's easy to find at most stores.

I'm not trying to be the scrooge here, but it is always better to treat a sick fish in quarantine. Sure, this isn't always feasible for everyone, but I just wanted to throw out there that shotgun-treatment isn't necessarily the best way. (Thanks for the frequent reminders and patient insight, DavidW.)

Common sense suggests that Melafix would reduce oxygen levels in the water but in fact it doesn't - this was checked using oxygen probes during testing and development of the product. Sorry to be a know-it-all ;)

Melafix and pimafix imo look like, smell like and froth like detergent. It is not a med per se. It is an extract of Melaleuca tree oil that is also used as an eco friendly household cleaner. I have seen it be an irritant to rays. There is nothing it can do that you cannot get cheaper and more effectively from using salt .

If you are having ray health problems then change water change water change water. The Amazon is some of the purest water on the planet, so the philosophy should be to remove things from your water, not to add things ( like melafix)

agree. and again.. .melafix does nothing. its tea tree oil. it is alleged to have some antibacterial properties but the claims the manufacturer make are all on the .01% scale. therefore it does NOTHING!!!!!!! o my bad... it does do one thing.... waste ur money!

i used melafix so many times i've lost count lol
yes, it's all safe. but like what others have said just make sure you have good water movement and add an air pump if you can.

btw, yes Rich you do have lots of "air" lol :D
