Some pictures giving detail to how the corners were set up and some close ups of the center.

Pardon the cloudy water.

The smaller more intricate pieces with curvy branchy points are then placed on top of the shelf to create detail and provide the look of random roots going into the water. All these pieces are about 12-20” long and are flat, thin, and curvy. Wedge them between the shelf and the roof of the aquarium to hold them in place.

Looks awesome! How long did that much wood leach for! I’m going on over 6 months with just a couple pieces and my water still is a bit tea stained.

Thank you.

All but one piece of wood has been used for years now but they continue to leach tannins. They always will as they slowly deteriorate over time. It’ll certainly lessen but a little will always remain.

I downright love the black water look. Even with just hardscape that looks amazing.
Thank you. I like the look of tannins as well. A good tip I got from some discus guys is to put raw organic Roibos tea into bags and place them in the filter. It does a whole lot to help with the Brown look and is safe for the fish. Apparently it has a calming effect even though it doesn’t change the water parameters. I highly recommend giving it a shot.
