have to say Ophi, theres nothing shocklingly wrong with a thread going of topic (aslong as it goes back), I did apoligise, and I did state I'd be making my own thead. If it was MY thread, and it meant a chamelion was getting cared for correctly, I wouldn't be harsh about it. My twop cents anyway :)

I wasn't really upset over it or anything, but usually when a thread gets derailed, it ends up being locked. I was more shocked that it went on for 6 pages. IMO, thats how conversations work...one thing leads to another. Nothing wrong with it as long as folks are civil.

Wow. Been gone to work all day, and this thread sure took some turns. At least I can stay on topic. Sheesh...

Anyway, about 5 pages back, Varanios, you said this:

I didn't go back and re-read any of it, because I didn't have to. I usually read all of your posts quite thoroughly before responding, and your very first post on this thread was abundantly clear in my memory. You said this:

Okay, so you didn't say the exact words, but I don't think anyone could misinterpret your meaning.

Anyway...just thought I'd point that out to everyone. Please continue with the whole taming-savannah monitors thing.

On a side note, I got some PMs that said this thread was deleted, and then un-deleted. Whats up with that? Locking it I could understand, but deletion?? At least I kept it on-topic for the first 6 pages...

Taming savannahs? youre off the deep end arent ya, and the reason why the thread was deleted was because it was an accident Jess wanted something deleted and the wrong button was pushed. We cant all be as perfect as you ophi.

At one point ya'll were talking about danceswith savs and taming savs (pages 10 & 11, in case you forgot), so thats where that comment came from.

I was just curious about the whole thead-deletion thing. Just found it odd and wondered why.

Thanks for acknowledging that I'm perfect, although I'm not sure what that has to do with anything....J/K....I'm nowhere near perfect, just like everyone else here.

Sorry if mentioning that old hag DWS 'derailed' the thread. I saw the chameleon topic more derailing, but it in a good way. I just mentioned her because we were talking about the old KS monitor forum debates, and Jess wanted to know who she was. Thats all.

Savs was a crazy coot indeed, it was a mockering pertaining to her, nothing real interesting other than for entertainment she was. ha ha h aha ha ha

I actually made a big effort to fix that old woman... Tried 'converting' her 'followers', only got one who ended up getting drunk and being bitten and dumping her sav... Tried educating her with the same methods used by the other people, just got mocked. For some reason, an army of angry forum members doesnt say anything to her. Neither does being banned from every website shes ever joined besides her own. If you look at her forum, she has an entire section dedicated to 'idiots' on KS, including me, Frank, and just about everyone on there. UGH, the nerve of that woman!!

Dont even get me started... I could go on forever. The thought of her abused lizards and the ones owned by her followers just make me sick. Shes turning to imported sav situation from bad to worse... No, terrible to worse.

I think that the best way in dealing with some of the issues that have been brought up on field research vs captive husbandry and which one is right and which one isnt is quite simple. Ophi you seem to do a good job at finding info and gathering it and showing us all here. I think its a good base to start with, but then its the experiences keepers such as Davo, Vicious Fish, Malawi (from what I have seen thus far) and some others that dont frequent as much that we need to take into account as well, and some of their own findings they have witnessed while working with certain species under their care for a long period of time.

What I think you tend to do is step on people's toes and decide to be all over the board, and try to answer as many questions as you can. I dont know why you think thats beneficial, but I woulnt step into a tort conversation where I think Vicious Fish would do a better job at answering a more complex question. Or Davo with snakes, and now Malawi with Plummies, you however do try to answer some of these questions and you base these answers on something you spoke to someone about a journal article or something else. Why not step back and be a good source for the base of it all, and let someone with more experience answer the questions that deal with more complex issues?

Do you really feel the need to most questions on here?
