As the Boaphile once said, "Lights are for poeple, not snakes."

i knock the rats out they get a good stun so he is fine they cant bite him id rather him eat live and fresh than frozen and thawed just my preference

Just out of curiosity rather than argument, why is that your preference? It is more humane to feed him frozen, as they are killed by CO2 and not knocked out. In addition the freezing process kills any parasites the rats may have, making them safer for your snake.

Bam!!! Yeah, if I'm feeding rats, or anything bigger than rats, they are always pre-killed. The fact that you can keep the food source at your house, without having a stinkin' rodent room, is always nice too.

Let me tell you there is nothing worse then bringing home some food items with mites on them. Recently I went through the largest infestation I have ever had to deal with. About a half hour of being in my animal room I discovered the mites on my breeder trio of RTBs, then checked the rack containing my other snakes. They had them as well, meanwhile I discovered them all over my ankles and legs. Not the most pleasent experience in the world but i controlled the infestation and eventually triumphed over the pesky creeps with no loss or illness what so ever. Logically PK/frozen food items are the safest route. at least in my book..

i agree its safer but i have always fed him live never tried frozen /thawed yet mabey 1 day is it hard to switch them to frozen

I think the only hard part is the fact that eating doesn't happen as fast with dead food. I would almost bet money that if you have a snake eating live food, you could throw in a dead rat overnight and it will be gone. It won't happen right away as with a live food source, but it will happen. I think having an animal that strikes at smell is a much better pet than one that strikes at movement.

he dont strike at me if my hand is in the cage unless my hand has touched a rat/mouse
