Okay, I'm pretty sure that 99% of us are annoyed at how easily a RTC or Pacu can be sold to a noob with a 10G. Here's the question: What Monster fish should be banned or have restrictions put on them? I believe that most ]V[ fish should require special order and should not be available in-store, ESPECIALLY RTCs. Too many people are returning stunted pacus, etc., not being informed enough not to buy them. What are your thoughts?

IMO non should be banned but for monster like pacus RTC TSN and other huge fish. Permits should be needed to keep them

more info for sure....i believe the worst are pacu...cuz i see teenagers go in a buy 4 and ask what size tank and they say 20L. i ask y pacu...he says they are cheap and look like piranha! i think cost has a lot to do with it.

i agree with john... but some sort of inspection and permit should be given to the truely jumbo fish....2.5-3+ feet

why put the burden on the consumer? if the staff at lfs and esp at chain stores had just a tiny bit of training it would take care of most of the problem. i was at a chain store the other day buying some platies and plecos for a pond. the salesman asks me what size tank they are going into, i was actually impressed that he took the time to ask even though they were very busy. but then, as he's bagging my fish, i hear another salesman is telling a newbie customer that a few pacus and red hooks and half dozen clown loaches would be fine in his brand new 55 gal that didn't even have water in it yet, he was buying the fish and setup at the same time. i hopefully talked him out of buying the fish now. this is not the fault of the consumer, it is the responsibility of the store managers/owners to train their staff adequately. take responsibility for the animals you are profiting from. this also goes for potentially large snakes, lizards, birds, etc.
