WOW What a Great thread i think i will print this and ask my LFS that sells these types of fish to please put this near his monster fish tanks!!!! I myself was a noob once but a responsible one at that 3 years ago when i purchased my first "big" tank i purchased my silver aro who was all of 5" being a noob i had my tank and cycled it for a week with my at the time java fern and a couple goldfish to make sure water was good....so i thought i was prepared to do battle i instanly fell in love with the silver watching his gracefull movement AT NO POINT DID HE TELL ME i was purchasing a MONSTER FISH he knew i was settup with a 75Gal and is the OWNER of the LFS he sold it to me and after going home and researching i was ASTONISHED to find out i had purchased a fish that could reach 4 feet....a year or so later I decided its time when i move to get a larger environment....so i am IMO Forced to give up my fish or get a bigger tank. In my eyes I had one option I need to upgrade!!! So i would say I was thrown into something I really at the time didn't want to be thrown into but being a responsible individual that I am i take responsiblity for not knowing what i was buyin and just like a dog i wouldn't get a rotweiler and once he gets big give him to the pound I buy the big tank.....like i said i was being "forced" into something i didn't want part of but now I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!!!!!!!!! It has brought me more joy than ANY Hobby I have EVER had...but in conclusion IT IS THE CUSTOMERS Responsiblity to know what they are buying and IT IS THE SELLERS Responsiblity to PROPERLY INFORM the customer on what they are purchasing granted the LFS i speak of will take any fish back once it out grows you tank I all to often go in there to think this fish was ABANDONED by its ignorant owner and want to remove it from its situation IE my clown knife the guy had a 12" fresh water stingray a 18" or so TSN cat my foot long clown knife and a 15" clown knife ALL IN A 55 GAL TANK!!!! I bought my clown knife about 4 months ago and the TSN cat and the bigger clown knife are STILL there in a 150 Gal tank EVERY time i go in there i have to talk myself out of buying the TSN by ripping myself away from the tank.. he just seems to have a telepathic connection to me i go in for feeders and find myself locked in a staring contest with him in awe of his extordanary colorations

sorry for the jumbled post you have struck the animal lover in me and my emotions took ahold.....i might just have to get the TSN after all and give up dreams of a Tem pbass seeing as i haven't been able to find one after my coming up on YEAR long search....did i meantion this LFS sold me a hedgehog they were housing in a 10 gal aquarium when they recomened no less than a 30 gal aquarium for such an animal o yeah they had 2 in the 10 gal i have told the owner my opinon on his ignorant animal housings he ALWAYS takes my advice and am fairly sure he will put this thread on his tank near the pricings.....THANK YOU ALL for being great people and even better HOBBIESTS!!!!!

when i was a petsmart today, i sawl that they had pacus listed at 30" max, which is good, but it also said that they needed a minimum 30 gallon tank.

also it said that leporinus only get 6" and only need a 10 gallon tank

wtf people, poor fish
