i had 2 powerheads in my tank at one time and i always had them in my old tanks... the orinos tend to like the current more then monos but they would chyll in the current all day long... the other one broke and i never replaces it so i currently have one that is connected to the u.v. With low ph and high temp you tend to have a lack of oxygen so i would say powerheads are good if you see your cichla breeding heavy or gasping for air when swimming around. personally its up to you, if you see your cichla dont like it you could always adjust it so that you get the oxygen without the current.
my bad. Yea for sure add one in each corner or just one in one of the corners. It can only help and give them more H2O and that has to be of benifit to you. I keep my 3'' cichla with a heavy current. I look at it like it's also exercise. Just my .02 cents.
