Hey guys got a quick question for everyone? Any of you guys have powerheads in your cichla tanks?? Thinking about putting some in. Should i do it? Are they beneficial for the cichla or would the currents annoy them??

i had 2 powerheads in my tank at one time and i always had them in my old tanks... the orinos tend to like the current more then monos but they would chyll in the current all day long... the other one broke and i never replaces it so i currently have one that is connected to the u.v. With low ph and high temp you tend to have a lack of oxygen so i would say powerheads are good if you see your cichla breeding heavy or gasping for air when swimming around. personally its up to you, if you see your cichla dont like it you could always adjust it so that you get the oxygen without the current.

I think he meant breathing heavy. My power heads aggitate the water at 685 time an hour so I say it is a must just to get that Oxygen where you need it. You should have no dead zones in your tank. Dead zones- areas where oxygen dosent get to and no fresh water exchange is happining.

lol ehh highschool means nothing .. only thing that matter is what you score on your SAT's... keep your cichla lol but honestly its the truth, but those are some hard classes

Christian don't listen to Boostin. Even if he is correct to a point. I scored Darn near perfect on my Act and Sat's but Like your doing Christian you have to study and study hard. I graduated top of my class but I was a real Hard *** as a kid and loved living the Hard Knock Life for sure. Christian how many times a day do you think we all get to see our fish? The same amount of time that you do. But if you stick to the course you can get a great job and still enjoy your fish. You have to just grin and bear it right now. If cutting back to one fish is your plan then go for it But I would at least keep three or four. No matter what after all that school work your going to need to relax too... imo.. Former Nerd. Current OG. Geek. I just love to learn. No matter what you decide we are going to be here for you now or later.

The Reason: Cichla Rules Everything Around Me.

I have been sick as a dog all weekend long. But any who.

My daughters 9th Birthday was this weekend and she had a great time and got lot's of gift's. I wanted to thank all of you who prayed for us through our hard times over this past summer as you who know it was a true Blessing to see her happy and still with us for this Birthday. Thank you all and most of all Thank you Jesus.

I have been in contact with a few of you this weekend and happy to see that we obtained three new members to the leauge. The Movement Is Going Strong. Go Cichla or go home!

So I think we should do an all member cichla picture thread posting in the number of your member #. What do you all think of that?

I guess I should be putting a powerhead in my tank then... even though mine is only about 2", lol

It doesn't hurt. even if it is a 2' tank. I hope you meant 2 foot and not 2 inches.

The tank is a 75g, but my pbass is only 2"...

lol  my bad. Yea for sure add one in each corner or just one in one of the corners. It can only help and give them more H2O and that has to be of benifit to you. I keep my 3'' cichla with a heavy current. I look at it like it's also exercise. Just my .02 cents.

lol, that was my bad. It sounded like I was talking about the tank after I read how I typed it. But I'll do that... now if I could just figure out what type of pbass it is.
