Nice looking flatty! I have caught baby blue before and even they have stuffed bellies beyond imagine lol. I always wanted to keep one but they get a ridiculously slimy coat when they get bigger and the eat a lot of food so you would need some mega filtration and either a tank to themselves or huge tankmates. Anyway good luck.

Yes in NC i had a spot for baby blues also. Very greedy little fish.
fun to catch. As for the slime coat all catfish/fish have it to some degree but imo blue cat isnt much worse than any other large cat. This flathead is an extreme slimeball for sure but luckilly i have yet to expirience NA catfish shedding their slime coats like most of the pimelodid catfish do when stressed. there is a cool vid of an adult blue eating a large carp in a large display tank somewhere. Fluffy been moved for a week now. Hasnt ate anything yet but im outta his fav chow til it arrives in the mail this week sometime. You could easily mistake him for a log in the back of the tank. when the sinking hikari gold gets here im sure he will eat again but he's going on a forced diet anyway and no heater on his tank.

Ok since its about flatheads i will post here.
Today i recieved the skull of a 70+ pound flathead. Just though i would share. I still need to degrease and whiten it a bit more then i will drill support holes for the internal wire frame and mount it. It is next to a 5 lbs flathead skull i prepared years ago. This thing is a whole nother level of monster! Hope mine gets this big some day.

For sure. This was kind of my christmas present to myself. I paid just shipping on it. Will probably sell the smaller one once i finish this one. Looking at trying to get some more like this. Problem is most people would have frozen heads. Just the bones on this on weighed over 5 lbs.

Lol in my threads catfish and skulls are always on topic. ;-) i have yet to recieve any. Some have offered but for various reasons i havent recieved any. I very much would love to have a large/any bagarius for dissection and articulation. I have intended and still do intend to do a full skeletal anatomy thread on here some day. I may do just a highlight thread til then to showcase the various catfish skeletons in my collection.
