wow, that looks cool! may i ask where you are located? what is the purpose of these clubs?

Each of the beetles have different longevity, this SPECIFIC one will live 6-8 months (8 is being generous, most likely 6~) and this SPECIFIC species was a grub for 2 years.

This club is called "SCABIES" (Southern California Arachnid, Bug, Invertebrate, Entomological Society). We are pretty much lovers of all animals, lots of us keep cichlids and fish / reefs, all of us keep Tarantulas, Scorpions, some keep venemous centipedes (I do) and some keep all of the above + rare insects including beetles, walking sticks, mantids and True spiders (not Tarantulas, just spiders from all over, some are pretty nice looking)

I myself keep Tarantulas, Centipedes, and Scorpions, as well as many other things that have nothing to do with SCABIES (Birds / fish etc etc)

Here are some club pics from our last get together (July 12).

Cool, do you bred your invertebrates?:D That would be good with so many wild habitats being destroyed. Some day lots of thouse big inverts may only last in captivity:(

Some of those beetles look pretty dayum cool! I don't know if I have the patience to keep them as a grub/maggot for years only to have them live as a beetle for less than half a year though. I had a tarantula who just passed away this february after 8 years. I may get another.

It will be cool if you can take red tail catfish growth rate cell and insert into one of of those grub and the grub take 2 months to grow and then turn into adult :D

What do you feed them as a grub? And do the grubs look quite cool, or do they look like maggots?

We do a LOT of breeding, we don't like wild collecting, yes they have to come from somewhere but some Tarantula are very valuable... When a certain species was discovered (P. Metallica, which is very beautiful and at the time over $1,000 US) they would cut down tree's in hopes of finding one... So once our group gets them, we try and breed as much as possible, we do love those bugs but we want most of them to live in the wild, not living rooms.

The grubs look kinda like big caterpillars and maggot mix. They eat things that are rotting like most grubs do I believe (Fruits / wet dog food or w/e)

Here's a pic of one. THEY'RE HUGE !
