As my RBP's grow I've begun thinking about cleaning out the tank.

How do you guys vacuum the tank out without the risk of being bitten?

I'm going to add another power filter in the near future, but i assume these filters or sumps,etc... do not keep the "poop" an bottom garbage clean.

So what equipment do you use? I'd rather not lose any flesh :)

If your worried about getting bit just have one of your friends do it? :D

Or maybe the wife :D

But seriously, i want to be safe. Right now i'm cleaning every 3 days thinking they'll get use to me cause they're so small. One is brave and comes very close to me. He's no danger at his size but in 6 months he could be

You could always use those long sleeved rubber gloves used for cleaning. A small rbp i wouldthink would be too big of a threat for that but a larger one could be.

Most people here will tell you they're just cautious and keep an eye on their Ps as they do their maintenance. They don't necessarly fear the fish but they respect them.

However, it's not that far out of the norm to fear being biten. You can grab some egg crate from your local home improvement store and cut it down to the size you need to create a divider. I use one for when i need to re aquascape. I don't for your normal water changes though. Only cost you a few bucks.

I'm new to Monsterfish keepers and everyone seems to use a bunch of acronyms. What is a "RBP"?

in this forum it's red belly piranha. You can usually tell by what section it's under
